Obadiah, ahab's palace administrator and the widom are 2 I believe should be added. What about false gods as they had a role in the bible?
Is there a list anywhere of the articles that are eligible? Not saying a list of all of them, but a list of 5-10 to choose from would be nice. Just a thought. And, I know we'll be choosing soon for Dec, not Nov. You should just rename the topic of this thread to remove the November part. Again, just a thought.
My best reccomendation is to try Special:LongPages, that way you can find articles that are lengthy enough (that doesn't mean they are good though). As of now, it would be impossible to manually compile a list every month of eligible articles. At this point you can nominate any article of your choosing and an Administrator will be able to determine its eligibility. At this point, though its unofficial, I would say you have till October the 25th to nominate articles before they are voted on (and you would most likely have till the 31st to vote, though that depends on when the last time I look at the list is).
How long ago did the Featured Article contest begin? Specifically, is there at least a list of articles that have already been featured in the past so they're not picked again? Perhaps something like a 6 month period could put that article back in the running.
The LongPages page will show all the candidates as you pointed out, but I don't know any of the past winners. Perhaps you, or someone, could post the past winners in either a Past Winners section, or full article linked to an article describing the idea and parameters of the contest. Something like this would be good for people that come along, say, 5 years from now when who knows will still be around. If there's one thing I'm good at is seeing the long-game and knowing what people will find valuable, both now and, in the future. Thanks!
We have had it since July and so far Joseph (old testament), the creation, Israel. The old testament Joseph article Won two months in a row. As of now we have determined to keep the featured articles partipication more loose and less organized so it is easier to participate. In the future when needed we will organize it further. I honestly think you are thinking too hard about your nominee. Just look around the wiki through search or categories and pick an article you see fit
Elijah will be the featured article for Novemeber since there was no other nominations. If there are any nominations by November 25th, 5:00pm central standard time they may be accepted and put into voting. Otherwise Elijah will be the featured article
May I suggest a Poll. You could just select a few randomly for the poll, or a long list of choices. That's the beauty of Polls. But knowing the past "winners" is necessary so you don't have the same ones coming up every other month. Exaggeration, I know, but you get the point.
And, actually, if this is something that will be going on for years then it is not something I am thinking too much about. You're the one that has all the guidelines and rules for everything. Why should this be any different. A Poll is a simple, easy way to get votes from everyone. And like I said earlier, due to my health and real life obligations, I still haven't gotten a chance to have a good look around. I'm slow getting started sometimes, but once I get goin I get goin. The devil really must not want me to take part in any of this wiki cause it seems he sure is working hard at making it difficult for me.
Sorry if I seem "snarky" today. It's been a rough couple of weeks and I haven't been able to get any sleep at all in close to two days now.
Elijah's a good choice. I'll be sure to make a selection for December.
At this point polls may be used if we need them in the future. At this point there aren't usually two many nominees for featured articles. As your comment about Satan making it difficult for you, I do not think it is Satan that is making it difficult. Rather its always difficult at the start to work on a website such as this, but if you feel God calling you to edit, then I think if you want to serve him you will try your best to edit. It can be difficult at first, but rather not Satan's doing, but simply the nature of the site. Sometimes serving God can be in relatively simple ways, other times it can be more difficult.
