Members of the Bible Wiki community- at our recent meeting my co-admin SouthWriter suggested that we transfer the Bible Wiki to the Books Hub of Wikia rather than the Lifestyles. This is an issue that has been debated in the past, and while I am not opposed to it I would like to present this to the community in full for the sake of transparency and engagement, showing the advantages and disadvantages of this proposed change. Please give us your opinions and feedback of the change, as it is likely we will do it unless significant reason to not is given.
The current reason why we have requested Bible Wiki be classified as Lifestyle's Hub Wiki is because of our ministry and evangelism goal of the wiki. Bible Wiki documents all of their content using a Biblical Point of View and discuss and document large amounts of history and philosophy (theology). While the Lifestyle hub maybe be a fitting choice we (the Admins) are considering that the books hub would be most fitting. Bible Wiki being an encyclopedia about the Bible, documents a collection of literature that writes about the histories and theologies that would fit us into a "Lifestyle" category. At Wikia a majority of lifestyle wikis are concerning topics such as cosmetics, health, fitness and toys and there are very few documenting history. Further the Books hub contains an audience that is much more accustomed to reading books and pieces of literature and discussing them.
The reason why the hub in which we are classified under is important, is because it is important part in distinguishing us on the Wikia hosting community and determines the audience in which we can promote to. While some of our content and programs are more lifestyle-themed (and are promoted on lifestyle accordingly) the content documented on the wiki all derives from a collection of literature. The people who have the skills and desires in books and literature intellectually would be better found at the Book Hub, than the Lifestyles Hub. Wikia is much more than a hosting platform, but is striving to be an online community. Being classified properly allows to promote to the correct audience and "fan group" on this community but distinguishes us even more.
Please leave your feedback and opinions on the idea below, whether they are applauses or criticisms. We will likely make this change unless we are given strong insight that says we should stay in the Lifestyle's hub
