Attention Bible Wiki Community Members! Today we are proud to introduce our brand new, liturgical calendar designed specifically for Bible Wiki by Bible Wiki Admins. This also serves as the internet's first ever liturgical calendar including solely biblical people and events. We have made this calendar to help service Bible Wiki's specific methods in growing biblical literacy and to serve as a Bible-only liturgical calendar. Through this we would like to encourage people to not only investigate the days they are celebrating, but also have a planned way to write content relevant to holidays on Bible Wiki.
Liturgical Calendars are used by the Catholic and Orthodox Churches and some Protestant denomations. So easily can church liturgy become the main focus of worship (it doesn't matter what division of Christianity or what denomation, or how much liturgy you have) and become more about works then the faith behind the works. There is nothing inherently wrong about celebrating holidays, but it is important to understand the faith behind the events so it is not just a work. It is often difficult to study this clearly, because of the lack of online calendars containing only biblical events and people.
By having this calendar we want to encourage everyone using it to read relevant scriptural passages that explain the origins of various holidays, or the people celebrated on feast days and why there work has classified them as "saints". Most of all by studying the origins of the holiday we can see the faith put in action in our observances of the holidays.
This is also an excellent way to write content. With this calendar in place, it can give insight to upcoming celebration of biblical events. Then one can write content (based on the Bible's documentation of the original event) to match in accordance with the holiday or expand upon an article about a person who is about to celebrated with a feast. This helps Bible Wiki in developing its content, expanding its SEO (aimed specifically for certain days) and giving us an outlet in which to post content to social media and it helps the user writing by increasing their overall biblical literacy and understanding people and events.
We hope that this new tool can be helpful in both the basic awareness of certain days and grow literacy of holidays and the faith behind them.
