One of the roles of the Bible Wiki community is to help keep us (SouthWriter and I) Administrators accountable and to help decide on certain issues when there is a disagreement (that is with two Admins). With many things it is important to get feedback from the community on major decisions. The Admins have hit a friendly conflict on organization of articles concerning headings and so we need your feedback. We would prefer longer more detailed answers as this is not a simple problem. There are two problems in which we will try to resolve here, which both root from one singular idea.
The two opposing ideas are as follows:
Person articles should be information about persons related to the Bible, containing an account of the person's life, their impact and their characteristics
-OR-
Person articles should be information about persons related to the Bible, which in the article's entirety is a biography
The first idea attempts to organize article headings by "Biography", "Legacy" and "Characteristics" whereas the latter tries to make subsections the overall headings and for there not be a "Characteristics". What would the community think is a better idea, treating the article as a whole as a Biography or the Biography being a part of the article.
A specific issue (that wouldn't be solved by deciding between the two) is should "Legacy" and "Deaths" be separate headings (or subheadings) or be one heading with the information. The first idea suggests that Death is part of the Biography as a subheading, because it is part of that person's life itself, whereas Legacy would be a separate heading being the impact of that person or their life. The second would suggest death and legacy go together in one heading discussing the person's death, burial, and impact under one heading.
The final issue that needs to be resolved is the use of "Characteristics" heading. No matter this wiki needs to rename the heading, because the term "Characteristics" is more fitting (and could be implicational) of a fictional character rather than a real-life person. Currently the characteristics section documents theological elements about a person, their relationship and any other miscelleanous info. Much of the info that goes under characteristics has been replaced in function by the "Legacy" heading. What should this heading be called to imply a real-life person? Would this heading need to be kept or would the information covered be better in the legacy or other section?
Thanks so much to everyone who contributed in giving feedback on the future of article organization
Note: If a decision is made article headings may not necessairly be changed in a timely matter or at all. Re-organizing the headings themselves is up to the Admins in how to do so if change is decided (feedback is welcome)
