Currently I posses Bibles in the following translations:
Usually for my personal reading I use NIV Bibles (largely because they are the most common Bible around so that is what I have ended up with). Fortunately it has enough of the original language for my interest sake- I like having some of the original language patterns, customs etc. I not only enjoy these things intellectually and have the knowledge to have some idea of what they mean, but with that knowledge I can obtain spiritual matters from these things.
For my writing here on the wiki I use the ESV, since it is on the more literal side of the spectrum of translations than intrepretive. I like to have the most precise content possible when writing on the wiki so its important I use more literal translations, but ones that I can understand and don't use real old English. For my wiki writing I go beyond English Bible translations and utilize interlinears and concordances to look at the original language, which gives me the most accurate meaning.
Like Superdadsuper, I primarily use the NIV for personal reading. Whenever I study, I often use the NASB and the KJV. I sometimes use other versions to see how a certain verse is translated.
