Malachi is the thirty-ninth book of the Old Testament and the thirty-ninth book of the Bible. It is a prophetic message delivered unto post-exile Israel through the prophet Malachi. It is the final prophecy and foreshadowing of Jesus Christ and is the final book of the Old Testament. After the recording of Malachi, God did not reveal Himself until four-hundred years later at the writing of the New Testament.

Authorship

Nothing is known about the author, but his name. The name means "My Messenger" and is translated in the last chapter of the book. This was the last book among the writing prophets, and the context indicates that the temple had been finished and in use for some time. The knowledge of the corruption among the priesthood seems to indicate that God's messenger for this important message was most likely a priest.
