There are many cases where an author of a book may not have known or seen the woman personally to describe her as beautiful. An attribution of beauty may be based off what was circulated from people who knew or saw the woman personally. Some cases of women being described as beautiful are found through dialogue rather than an author's note.
Usually beauty is mentioned to further give insight into a narrative and why events happen. Sometimes beauty is mentioned in conjunction with inner beauty, while other times beauty is mentioned as weapon of evil or a temptation of lust.
