Gath is found in the Old Testament

Gath is a city mentioned several times in the Old Testament of the Bible. It was one of the five city-states of Philistia[1] and like its counterparts was ruled by a King and reigned over many satellite towns. The town is known for being a city of giants, most notably Goliath[2]. The city's inhabitants were called Gittites, a demonym of Gith .
