Joshua (Aramaic Jeshua) was the High Priest of the Jews during the reconstruction of the temple and administration of Zerubbabel as the governor. Being the religious leader of the Israelite Remnant, Joshua played a critical role in the construction of the new temple and the resurgence of the priesthood. Other than his activity in the establishing Israel, nothing else is known about Joshua. He is documented in the books of Nehemiah, Ezra, Haggai and as symbolic imagery in Zechariah.
