Zedekiah was the last king of Judah, who ruled for 11 years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. He did evil in the sight of God. It was during his reign as king that the Babylonians finally took over Jerusalem and destroyed it. He rebelled against the king of Babylon and tried to escape after the city was held captive in a siege, but the Chaldean army overtook the king and brought him to Riblah, where the king of Babylon passed judgment on him. He had Zedekiah's sons killed in his sight and then had his eyes taken out, placed bronze fetters on him, and took him away to Babylon.
